Julian Jeanvier has been given the number 15 shirt for the Africa Cup of Nations, which begins in Egypt later this month. The central defender was named in the Guinea squad for the event last week. Julian, who played for France at youth level, made his national team debut last week when Guinea lost 1-0 to Gambia and earned his second cap in another 1-0 defeat, this time to Benin, on Tuesday.
Julian is one of only three players selected from England, along with Fulham's Ibrahima Cisse and Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita. Paul Put's side start their campaign in Group B against Madagascar next Saturday, 22 June. Four days later, one of this year's favourites Nigeria face Guinea in what could be the game of the group. The final match sees them come up against minnows Burundi. Guinea have one more warm-up friendly, against Egypt tomorrow.
