Japhet Sery Larsen on new challenges ahead

Danish defender looks ahead to a tough season with B Team

23 June 2019

New B Team signing Japhet Sery Larsen spoke to us this week about joining Brentford for the 2019/20 season. The 19-year-old joined Neil MacFarlane's side from FC Midtjylland this week.

Speaking to us at Jersey Road, Japhet said: "It has been a great first day, I'm excited to be here. I knew for quite a long time that I would come to Brentford to play and to be here today is great.

"There are going to be some completely different challenges here and I'm looking forward to meeting them."

Japhet knows new teammate Gustav Mogensen from their days in Denmark's youth sides, and the two have been talking over the summer.

"I've been talking to him a bit before I came here. He said that it's a great club, great facilities to get better. He likes the place, the teammates and the coaches as well."

Last year saw Japhet and FCM take on some of the biggest teams in Europe with their progress in the UEFA Youth League. Our new man is clearly looking forward to more fixtures against top opposition.

"I can't wait to play these teams again. It has been a big experience to meet these teams and to see them more often will be very good.

"I want to come here, get to know my teammates in the B Team at the beginning. I need to get used to the culture and everything here, obviously I'd like to train with the First Team and get up there."

This isn't the first time Japhet has come across staff members at Brentford either.

"I've known Brian [Riemer] for a couple of years. We've played against his team, Copenhagen, a couple of times in the league and I've met him before. I can't wait to get started, we're going to have some hard sessions and I can't wait to play the games."
