Brentford centre half Ezri Konsa has been given the number 15 shirt by England for the upcoming UEFA European Under-21 Championships to be held in Italy and San Marino. The defender, who already has a World Cup winner's medal to his name with England's Under-20s was named in the squad, which heads out to Italy this week, at the end of last month. The squad numbers for the event were announced this week and Ezri was given the 15 shirt.
England begin their campaign on Tuesday 18 June with a game against France and then face Romania three days later. Croatia provide the final opposition for the Young Lions, 2017 semi-finalists, on Monday 24 June. The three group winners, plus the best runner-up qualify for the semi-finals, as well as earning a place at the 2020 Summer Olympics, with the final being held in Udine on Sunday 30 June.
Ezri was an almost ever-present at Griffin Park this season, making 47 appearances in all competitions following his summer move from Charlton Athletic. He also scored his first goal in Brentford colours during our final day victory over Preston North End. The 21-year-old has earned six caps at England Under-21 level, two of those coming in qualification for this summer's Euros, to add to his five caps at Under-20 level.
