Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd, the principal contractor delivering our new stadium, has teamed up with Brentford FC Community Sports Trust to refurbish the Trust’s Boating Arch along the River Thames. The construction company, which has been working closely with Brentford FC Community Sports Trust on its community initiatives, made some adjustments to the existing scaffolding boat racks to make them and reconfigured the floor to create extra space.
Simon Morris, Senior Construction Manager at Buckingham group, said: “After we met with Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, it was clear that they were doing some amazing and inspiring work within the local community. While Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd are working to build Brentford FC’s exciting new Community Stadium, it would be nice if we could leave a positive footprint behind when we have finished. To this end, we are already looking at other ways in which we can work with the Trust in the local community.”
Established in 2007, the Boating Arch brought together Ealing Council, St George West London, London Marathon, The Veolia Environmental Trust and Landfill Communities Fund to create a sporting hub that would connect with local schools, community groups and businesses. Now, in 2019, the Boating Arch offers a multitude of watersport activities for the local community including kayaking, paddelboarding and rowing.
Lee Doyle, Chief Executive of Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, said: “We are delighted that Buckingham Group are supporting our community facilities and we look forward to working closely with them on our future community ventures. Our Boating Arch highlights how our sporting activities stretch far beyond football, and Buckingham Group are helping us to expand our community offer in west London.”
