Preparations step up for Brentford Women's FC

Karleigh Osborne's side working hard ahead of the new campaign

23 July 2019

It’s been a busy time for Brentford's Women since the end of the 2018/19 campaign. Training has continued throughout the summer and, after a series of successful trial sessions, a number of players have been added to the squads. A few have also moved on and we wish them well for the new season.

The Club was well represented at the Denham and Ashford tournaments with four teams entered in each, and progression through to the knockout stages against some very strong opposition. Two teams also travelled to an International tournament in Austria, achieving very respectable third and fifth place finishes.

Sunday 14 July saw the First Team suffer a narrow 3-2 loss away against a Fulham team who play in a  higher league. Despite the defeat, the coaches would have been pleased with the high-quality play and well-worked goals on display.

Last Sunday saw a home game against Luton. Following an excellent start from The Bees, mistakes and injuries combined to result in a heavy defeat.

Both matches saw a number of Development Team players involved which is a positive sign of the club’s approach to progression, and the desire to ensure that all players are given the chance to shine.

Next up is a home match against QPR on Sunday 28 July at Bedfont Sports before a trip to Sutton United a fortnight later. The first competitive match will be the visit to Abingdon United in the Preliminary Round of the Women’s FA Cup on Sunday 1 September.
