Preview: Bedfont Sports vs Brentford B

Preseason fixtures get underway tonight in TW14

4 July 2019

Brentford B take on Bedfont Sports FC in the first game of preseason tonight in Feltham. Neil MacFarlane will take charge of the team for the first time alongside new Assistant Coach Sam Saunders.

Tickets are available on the door, priced at £5 for adults and under-16s go free. It's a 7pm kick-off at Bedfont Sports Football Club, Hatton Road, Bedfont, TW14 9QT.

The squad will be without Kolbeinn Finnsson, whose loan deal with Fylkir expired recently and is now getting a short rest period. Japhet Sery Larsen missed training on Wednesday with a knock and could miss the game. Other new players Nathan Shepperd, Kane O'Connor, Christian Tue Jensen and Julien Carre will most likely feature as the coaching staff look to get minutes into the majority of the boys.

Earlier this week, we spoke to the new man in charge of Brentford's youngsters for the first time. You can click below to watch Neil talk about his vision for the season, working with a new set of staff and what to expect from the first part of preseason.

The Opposition

Bedfont Sports FC are a side that play on tier eight of the English football pyramid, in the Isthmian League South Central Division. They finished 12th of the 20 teams that competed for promotion to either the Isthmian Premier or Southern League last season.

The club was established in 2002, winning the Hounslow and District League in their first campaign. Their most recent taste of success was in the 2017/18 season, when The Eagles were promoted after a second-place finish in the Middlesex County League.

Last season, Bedfont also took part in the Middlesex Senior Cup, a competition the B Team went on to win at Griffin Park in April. After a 4-2 win over Southall in the First Round, BSFC went on to lose 2-0 to National League South side Hampton & Richmond Borough in the Second.
