After Thomas Frank and Lars Friis’ sides won on Saturday, Brentford Women’s First Team welcomed Peckham Town to Bedfont Sports in the John Greenacre Memorial Trophy. Against lower-division opposition, Nathan Mobey and Justin Ali’s side started brightly with Wiltshire’s pace a constant threat to the visitors’ defence.

It took just ten minutes for The Bees to take the lead as Wiltshire closed down an attempted back-pass and curled an effort past the Peckham goalkeeper from the edge of the box. It was 2-0 shortly after in similar circumstances as Wiltshire’s pace got her in behind before she calmly rounded the visiting keeper and rolled home.

The Bees look set to take a comfortable lead into the break but, as too often has been the case this term, they conceded twice in quick succession right at the end of the half to go in all square.

The half-time interval gave The Bees a chance to re-group and they came back out fighting in the second period. A comical own-goal, which saw a Peckham defender slice a clearance over her own goalkeeper from 15 yards, restored Brentford’s advantage before Wiltshire completed her hat-trick, and sent The Bees into Round Three, with another composed finish late on.

In South London, the Development Team picked up a huge three points in their Greater London Women’s Football League Division Two North relegation battle thanks to a 1-0 victory away at Camden Town Ladies. Shannon Read got the only goal as Will Blithing’s side picked up only their second win of the season to move four points clear of Sunday's opponents at the bottom of the table.

There’s more cup action for the First-Team next Sunday as they head to Ashford Town, kick-off 2pm, while the Development Team host AFC Stoke Newington at Bedfont Sports in Division Two North, kick-off 2.15pm.
