Midfield player Ryan Woods has left Brentford and completed a permanent move to Sky Bet Championship rivals Stoke City for an undisclosed fee after a loan spell. The 25-year-old joined Stoke on loan in late August and a fee was agreed so Ryan could make a permanent switch to The Potters when the Transfer Window opened again at the start of 2019. The paperwork has now been completed for that deal to go through and Ryan is now a Stoke player.
Ryan spent three years in West London and was almost ever-present after signing from Shrewsbury Town. The Staffordshire-born midfield player came through the ranks at Shrewsbury and signed a professional contract at the age of 18 in 2012. After moving to West London, he has established himself in the Brentford midfield, usually playing in a deeper role.
He played 128 games in all competitions for The Bees and scored three goals. He made 122 league appearances for the Club. Ryan was named Supporters’ Player of the Year at the end of last season, having won the Players’ Player of the Year prize for the 2016/17 season. He has played 21 Championship games for Stoke since joining The Potters in August. All at Brentford would like to wish Ryan all the best for the future.
