Tom Broadbent swept The Gas in front just before the interval with Stefan Payne doubling that advantage on the hour. Matt Crooks set up a nervy finale with a goal 15 minutes from time but Rovers, under new boss Graham Coughlan, held on to reach the Quarter-Finals.

The appearance was Jack’s 25th of a season which has seen him keep 10 clean sheets. Next up for Rovers is a trip to Accrington Stanley in League One on Saturday.

Our three other players out on loan weren’t in action in midweek but will hope to feature for their clubs this weekend. Canice Carroll and Swindon Town host Lincoln City in Sky Bet League Two while Justin Shaibu’s Boreham Wood and Jarvis Edobor’s Maidstone United have FA Trophy ties against Blyth Spartans and Oxford City to look forward to.
