Theo Archibald netted a 94th minute winner as Forest Green Rovers moved up to fifth in Sky Bet League Two with a 2-1 victory over Northampton Town at The New Lawn. George Williams gave Rovers a perfect start inside 60 seconds, but Sam Foley’s second-half equaliser looked set to secure a point for Town. However, deep into stoppage time, Theo let fly from 25 yards and arrowed an unstoppable effort into the back of the net. The goal was Theo’s first in professional football as Rovers made it ten points from a possible 12 over the festive period.

Also in League Two, Chiedozie Ogbene started for Exeter City as they won 2-0 on the road at Swindon Town. Jonathan Forte netted from the spot just before the break with Archie Collins making the game safe 20 minutes from time. The appearance was Chiedozie’s 18th of the season since joining The Grecians as they move up to sixth with the three points.

In the National League, Justin Shaibu started for Boreham Wood as they drew 1-1 on the road at Barnet; a late Bradley Ash penalty for The Wood cancelling out Ephron Mason-Clarke’s opener for the hosts. Elsewhere, Reece Cole and Jarvis Edobor came off the bench as struggling Maidenhead United and Maidstone United failed to pick up three points. Maidenhead drew 0-0 away at Aldershot while The Stones were beaten 1-0 at home by fellow strugglers Dover Athletic.

In Sky Bet League One, Jack Bonham kept his tenth clean sheet of the campaign as Bristol Rovers battled out a point at home to Burton Albion. The visitors shaded the game but could find no way past Jack, Lukas Akins bringing a fine save out of the Rovers’ keeper late on in the first-half. The point keeps Rovers just outside the bottom four after a run of three wins, one draw, and just one defeat under caretaker boss Graham Coughlan over Christmas.

Ryan Woods was replaced on the hour yesterday during Stoke City’s 2-0 defeat at home to Bristol City. The Robins took a 39th minute lead through Famara Diedhiou with Callum O’Dowda making the game safe nine minutes from time at the Bet 365 Stadium.

The only one of our eight loanees not to see action on Tuesday was Tom Field as Cheltenham Town thumped Yeovil Town 4-1 to open up more space between them and the Sky Bet League Two relegation zone.
