B Team defender Canice Carroll has this morning joined Swindon Town on loan for the rest of the 2018/19 season.

The 19-year-old travelled to Swindon yesterday evening to complete the loan switch, securing the move first thing this morning, Friday 4 January. It's his first move away from the Club since signing for The Bees four months ago.

Canice arrived at Brentford as a summer signing in August, joining from Oxford United on a two-year contract. He has made 16 B Team appearances this term and scored one goal, which came against GC Zurich while on tour in Switzerland.

The Republic of Ireland youngster, whose birthday falls later this month, was also registered to Brentford's Sky Bet Championship squad and given the squad number 35 earlier this season. In October, Thomas Frank named him on the bench for The Bees' trip to Preston North End.

B Team Head Coach Lars Friis said: "Canice is heading out on loan to get some football in the league after spending some time within our culture and learning our style of football. Swindon were interested in taking him on and we wanted something to take him out of his comfort zone, the move works for both parties. We'll follow his progress there throughout the next few months and I'd like to wish him luck with The Robins."
