Preview: Wealdstone vs Brentford B

Middlesex Cup Quarter-Final at Grosvenor Vale tonight

8 January 2019

Brentford B travel to The Vale this evening to take on Wealdstone in the Middlesex FA Senior Challenge Cup. Kick-off is 7.45pm in Ruislip.

The Opposition

The Club plays in the Vanarama National League South, the sixth tier of English football and the highest ranked opponent the B Team have faced this season. Back in 1984/85, The Stones acheived the first non-league double by winning the division and the FA Trophy in the same season.

This year, the team are going steady in mid-table between Slough Town and Chippenham in 12th place. On Saturday, Wealdstone left it late but managed to snatch a point from their game against Dartford at home. Eion McKeown scored a 92nd-minute leveller to cancel out Elliot Bradbrook's second-half opener.

The Manager

Bobby Wilkinson is the Manager at Grosvenor Vale and has been in charge since August 2017. After a seven-year spell at Hungerford Town, Wilkinson was brought in to replace long-serving Stones boss Gordon Bartlett - who had been in at the helm for 22 years.

He had worked wonders at Town, leading the team to promotion out of the lower tiers and into the National League South via a Play-Off victory over Leamington. At the start of the season, Wilkinson was given permission to speak to two clubs over a possible move away from Ruislip but he turned them down in favour of signing a new contract with The Stones.
