Thomas Frank has missed out on the EFL Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month award despite an unbeaten January across two competitions. After steadying the ship with a three-match unbeaten run to end December, Thomas' Bees hit their stride in January, winning three and drawing two of our five games in all competitions. But the prize went to Tony Mowbray, of Blackburn Rovers, who won four Championship games out of four in the month.
Brentford's year started with a 1-1 draw at home to Sky Bet Championship high-flyers Norwich City before Oxford United were seen off 1-0 at Griffin Park in the Emirates FA Cup. A fine all-round performance ensured a 3-1 victory over Stoke City before four goals on the road at Rotherham United ended our wait for a league win away from home. The month then finished with a dramatic 3-3 FA Cup draw at Barnet. Thomas was nominated for the monthly award but did not win.
The Bees have, however, continued their form in to February. Brentford beat Blackburn at Griffin Park last week and have progressed to the Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round with a win over Barnet. The Player of the Month prize was won by Adam Armstrong, also of Blackburn.
