Matthew Donohue to take charge at Ashton Gate

Match Officials confirmed for opening game of 2020

31 December 2019

We head into the new decade with a trip to Bristol City our first assignment. Find out more about tomorrow's match officials below.

Referee: Matthew Donohue

Assistant Referees: Timothy Wood and Mark Pottage

Fourth Official: Brett Huxtable

Matthew Donohue has enjoyed a quick rise through the National Group, spending just 12 months as an EFL referee before being added to the Select Group Two of Sky Bet Championship officials during the summer.

As such this will be just Donohue's second Brentford assignment after he took charge of our 1-0 defeat at Blackburn Rovers last month.

The Greater Manchester official has shown three red cards in 20 outings this season. One of those reds was initially shown to West Bromwich Albion's Grady Diangana for a foul before Donohue corrected his decision to dismiss Nathan Ferguson during The Baggies game with Charlton Athletic in October.

On top of those three red cards, Donohue has also shown 80 yellow cards this term.

Bristol City 2019/20

275 fouls – 19th in Sky Bet Championship

38 yellow cards – 17th in Sky Bet Championship

1 red cards – 11th in Sky Bet Championship

Tickets for tomorrow's trip to the South West have SOLD OUT. Collections will be available until 4pm on New Year's Eve from the Brentford FC Ticket Office or from Ashton Gate on matchday.
