An exquisite Christian Tue Jensen free kick as well as a finish from Joe Adams proved the difference between the two sides as Brentford B picked up a deserved victory.

The young Bees went into the match off the back of a couple of defeats to Scottish sides Rangers XI and Hibernian Reserves, and they made sure they would end the year on a high with an impressive display.

With a number of first team players featuring last time out, this time around it was the turn of a youthful squad with Luka Racic the only recognised first teamer to turn out for Neil MacFarlane’s side.

It would be Jensen who would have the match’s first real chance when he managed to break into the box unmarked before meeting a low cross first time, but he was unable to keep his effort on target as it nestled just wide of goal.

That preceded a good spell for the visitors who would have a header go just over from Terence Kongolo as he rose well to meet a Huddersfield corner. Micah Obiero would then find himself one-v-one with Nathan Shepperd as he latched onto a ball through the middle, but the Brentford was on hand to save well with his legs.

Half chances would then fall for The Bees as the lively Joe Adams missed the target before they felt they should have had a penalty when Gustav Mogensen felt he was pulled back as he attempted to get on the end of a Kane O’Connor cross from the right.

The second half was just six minutes old when The Bees took a deserved lead. Having netted free-kicks against Hanwell Town, FFDTV Academy and Beckenham Town already this season, Jensen stepped up to convert his free-kick with style as he found the top corner.

The Bees then began to run riot in terms of chances as their high work rate and determination saw them create more chances, and Matej Majka almost found the net when he drove into the box before sliding an effort just wide.

Majka would be involved shortly after though as he worked another good opening before sliding the ball inside for Adams to sweep the ball home first time into the bottom corner.

It would get harder for the away side when they were reduced to 10-men when Jaheim Headley was given a second yellow card for dissent as the away side became more and more frustrated.

Jensen would then see another free kick in the later stages end up on top of the net as he went close to making it 3-0 and the last attempt of the match actually fell for the away side when Obiero turned well before chipping the ball over Simon Andersson, but his effort could only find the crossbar as Brentford kept their clean sheet.
