The 20-year-old struck from the spot for his fifth of the season as Sparta Rotterdam went into the winter break on the back of a 3-0 win over second-placed AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie. AZ were reduced to ten men after just five minutes with Sparta taking full advantage to lead 2-0 at the break. Halil added a third just before the hour for his final contribution in the red and white of Sparta. Halil will head to TW8 having contributed 16 goals and 12 assists in 58 appearances for Sparta.
