Supporters from our LGBeeTs, the group for LGBTQ Brentford fans, were the latest to perform the Griffin Park Countdown. At every home match in 2019/20 we are counting down to the final game at Griffin Park. This will include using a special display which will be updated at each remaining league match. The Farewell Griffin Park countdown was changed to 14 last Saturday, when The Bees thrashed Luton Town, by representatives of the LGBeeTs.

At the match Brentford FC once again joined in efforts to make football accessible to all by supporting the Stonewall Rainbow Laces campaign. The corner flags at Griffin Park were changed to rainbow ones, rainbow laces were used by staff and there were activities to show Brentford’s commitment to making the game accessible, enjoyable and welcoming to all – the aim of the campaign. Pictures showing what went on can be seen here.

And one of the centrepieces of the day was Gemma Teale, Lisa O'Brien, Kate Graham and Chris Waight from the LGBeeTs performing our countdown. The group’s aim is for all fans to be able to support and follow Brentford FC home and away safely, without fear, and without hearing homophobic, biphobic or transphobic abuse and believe that with better visibility and support for LGBTQ fans, they can work with the Club to make this happen.

The group display a rainbow flag at Griffin Park on matchday and have taken Buzz Bee on the annual Pride march in London. The group is open to LGBTQ Bees fans and everyone who wants to make sure that Brentford stays a friendly and welcoming club for all fans. You can reach them on [email protected].
