Neal Maupay has left Brentford and signed for Brighton and Hove Albion. The striker, who will turn 23 next week, completed his move to the South Coast side for an undisclosed fee earlier today. He leaves West London after two years and becomes the third Brentford player in eight months to move to the Premier League.
Neal joined Brentford in July 2017 from AS Saint-Étienne. He came through the youth ranks at Nice and played for them in the French top flight as well as for France at Under-16, Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 level. In two years at Griffin Park Neal scored 41 goals in 95 games, 28 of those goals came in 49 games in all competitions last season. He scored 37 goals in 85 Sky Bet Championship games.
Thomas Frank, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: “I have loved working with Neal and wish him all the best for the future. I did lots of work with Neal on his movement and runs in to the box and in his two years with us we have worked on the extra details that a goal scorer needs. He is a player who, ever since he arrived, has wanted to work hard, learn and improve. He will be missed here but I am confident we will replace his goals.”
