On Monday, Justin Shaibu came off the bench as ten-man Boreham Wood were beaten at home by Ebbsfleet United. Wood couldn’t have endured a worse start seeing Femi Ilesanmi sent off inside three minutes and then finding themselves 2-0 down after a quarter of an hour. However, to their credit the Hertfordshire side rallied and pulled a goal back from the penalty spot with 14 minutes to play. Wood piled on the pressure late on but couldn’t find a leveler as they drop to 20th in the National League table.

Last night, Canice Carroll made his return to the Carlisle United side following suspension as they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at Rochdale. Aaron Morley and Matty Done gave the home side the perfect start against The Cumbrians. Canice was introduced just after the restart as United grabbed a lifeline in the 70th minute when Jack Bridge netted from the penalty spot. United were then denied a clear penalty late on as they slipped out of the competition.

This weekend sees both take on their division’s bottom sides as Boreham Wood travel to Chorley while Carlisle visit Scunthorpe. Meanwhile, in Holland Halil Dervişoğlu and Sparta Rotterdam host Ajax.
