The opening weekend of the EFL and National League season saw one win and one defeat for our two players out on loan.
In Sky Bet League Two, Canice Carroll was a late substitute as Carlisle United started their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Crawley Town at Brunton Park. All the goal action came inside the opening 32 minutes; Harry McKirdy and Stefan Scougall netting either side of Bez Lubala's effort for the visitors. Canice was introduced with 15 minutes to play as United held to record opening day victory.
Justin Shaibu's second debut for Boreham Wood ended in defeat for ten-men Wood at newly-promoted Torquay United. Jamal Fyfield was shown a first-half red card for the visitors before Opi Edwards turned in a Jamie Reid cutback to give The Gulls' the lead on the hour. The latter then doubled the Gulls' lead two minutes later with a superb 25-yard strike. Tyrone Marsh pulled a goal back for the visitors at the death, making the most of a defensive error, but Torquay held on.
