Chiedozie Ogbene has left Brentford and joined Sky Bet League One side Rotherham United for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old has joined The Millers after 18 months at Griffin Park. He completed a medical yesterday, Wednesday 28 August, and officially became a Rotherham player this morning.

The winger joined The Bees in January 2018 from Irish League side Limerick. His first Brentford appearance came three months later away at Nottingham Forest before he again came off the bench during our final day draw against Hull City at Griffin Park. Chiedozie was loaned to Sky Bet League Two side Exeter City at the start of last season, going on to play 17 times for The Grecians. After he returned to Griffin Park in January, Chiedozie featured off the bench on six occasions in all competitions.

Thomas Frank, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: “I want to thank Chieo for his efforts while at Brentford. He was a top professional, he worked very hard and was always willing to learn. There has always been competition for places while he has been with us and there have been some unfortunate coincidences that have stopped him getting more game time.

“After speaking to him this summer we all agreed it was best for him to have a fresh start somewhere else. Everyone here has a great belief that he can have a good career in the game and the best way to achieve that is to have a fresh start. I wish him all the best for the future.”
