B Team defender Canice Carroll has joined Carlisle United on loan for the entire 2019/20 season.

The 20-year-old agreed terms yesterday, Wednesday 31 July, before completing a medical in Cumbria. It's his second spell on loan in League Two following a five-month stay at Swindon Town last season.

Prior to joining The Bees, he was a product of the Oxford United youth system. He made his professional debut as a 16-year-old in the Football League Trophy, before going on to play in 15 more matches for The U's. During this time, in December 2017, he scored his first senior goal against Bradford City in League One.

Canice joined The Robins on loan in January 2019. He made 17 appearances for them and scored a goal against Colchester United during a 3-0 win in March. Despite appearing on the bench for Thomas Frank's side, Canice has yet to make his Brentford debut.

So far this term, he has been in preseason training with the First Team at Griffin Park and featured in the first three fixtures against AFC Wimbledon, Dynamo Kyiv and Wycombe.

B Team Head Coach Neil MacFarlane told brentfordfc.com: "We would like to wish Canice all the very best at Carlisle for the forthcoming season. He is at the stage of his career where he has to be competing for first team football, so this is a good challenge for him and one I know having worked with Steven [Pressley], he will enjoy and continue to develop. I hope it’s a successful season for both."
