Brentford B lost 5-3 to an Isle of Man representative squad in rainy conditions in Douglas on Wednesday night.
Ali Coote scored either side of half-time after Gustav Mogensen had netted early on, but it wasn't enough for Lars Friis' side, who were outclassed in front of a lively crowd.
Goalkeeper Simon Andersson was tested early on by striker Furo Davies. A fierce effort was struck at goal but the Swedish stopper stretched across to parry it wide.
Jayden Onen might have opened the scoring at the other end when he forced Dean Kearns into a smart save with his feet. The keeper spread himself well and deflected the ball away with his left foot.
At the other end, it was one-nil to the home side when Dan Simpson took aim from just outside the box. Having cut in from the right, he smashed one with his left foot that zipped off the greasy surface beyond Andersson into the net.
Within minutes, they had a second. This time the chance came from the penalty spot when Luka Racic pulled back Ste Whitley on his way into the box. Jack McVey stepped up to take it, sending Andersson the wrong way and smartly tucking it into the left corner.
After half an hour, Mogensen scored to get The Bees into the game. Onen started it off with a nutmeg on McVey, then quickly moved it wide to Cole Dasilva. Getting the better of Simpson, he put in a low cross that was turned in by the Danish striker.
Immediately down the other end, IOM restored the two-goal cushion. A corner by Rhys Oates was whipped in towards the near post, where Frank Jones was waiting to nod it over Andersson and into the net.
Then it was 3-2. Jan Zamburek was tripped in the box by Tom Wood and Ali Coote was able to step up and score from 12 yards. He put it away from the keeper, high into the left side of the net, meaning Kearns couldn't get near it despite diving the right way.
Davis came close for the home side before the break, stinging the palms of Andersson from distance. The keeper needed a second chance to gather the ball as it squirmed out of his grasp.
Jaakko Oksanen might have levelled things just before the interval too. Taking a loose ball from Jacob Crook into his stride, he fired at goal but there was Kearns in the way. It hit him hard but he kept it out and they went into half-time a goal up.
After the break, it could have instantly been a level contest but for the woodwork. Coote turned inside substitute Cameron Lee and drilled one low beyond new goalie Luke Murray, only to see it bounce off the left post. Mogensen, racing in on the rebound, couldn't reach it as it zipped agonisingly beyond his outstretched leg a few yards from goal.
With an hour gone, the blue shirts extended their lead. Andersson punched away a corner, which hit Jones on the head and dropped nicely for him to strike at goal. It dipped beneath the crossbar, confirming the captain's second of the night.
The home side's fifth came from a player in Brentford colours. Mogensen was trying to clear a deep ball in front of Alex Maitland but got his header all wrong, instead diverting it into the net at the far post.
There was still time for a bit of magic from the Brentford captain. His second goal was a stunner. Kolbeinn Finnsson crossed a corner-kick over to the edge of the box, where the Scottish midfielder watched it all the way onto his foot and volleyed it towards goal. The contact was perfect, and it arrowed its way past both keeper and defender on the line. Brentford had a spectacular third.
There was still time to maybe grab another, but IOM kept things as they were. Archibald forced a half-chance, driving a low cross into the box, which was almost spilled by Murray at Finnsson's feet. Luckily for the hosts, the keeper clung onto the ball.
Then Finnsson managed to collect a cross from the former Celtic man and shoot. The shot looked destined for the corner until Murray expertly tipped it round the post with his left hand.
