Alan Judge earns fifth Ireland cap on Tuesday night

A round-up of the action from the final night of international duty for The Bees

12 September 2018

There was just six minutes of action for our three First-Team players away with their nations on Tuesday.

The only one of our trio to feature was Alan Judge who appeared as a late substitute against Poland in Wroclaw to earn his fifth cap for the Republic of Ireland. Coming off the back of their mauling by Wales, it was a much-improved display from Martin O’Neill’s men who took an early second-half lead through Millwall’s Aiden O’Brien. However, Leeds United Mateusz Klich levelled with just three minutes to play. Alan was introduced for Callum O’Dowda in stoppage time as the game ended all square.

At Under-21 level, neither Ezri Konsa nor Marcus Forss made the matchday squads for England or Finland as UEFA Under-21 European Championship qualifying continued last night. Both men played the full 90 minutes for their respective nations on Thursday and Friday, Marcus’ appearance being his maiden at Under-21 level.

In their absence, England scraped past lowly Latvia 2-1 in Jelgava to confirm at least a Play-Off spot with two games to play while Finland’s qualifying hopes ended after a 3-1 defeat at home to Poland. The final pair of games will be held next month with England needing just one point to secure top spot and qualify for next summer’s tournament in Italy.
