Four goals in as many games wasn't enough to win Neal Maupay the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for September. The Bees striker was nominated for the second tier's main prize but saw the trophy go to West Bromwich Albion striker Dwight Gayle after he struck five times during September.
It was double delight for The Baggies as Darren Moore claimed the Managerial gong after collecting 13 points from five outings, scoring 12 goals and going top of the table.
After missing the first game of September through suspension, the second tier's leading marksman returned after the international break to net both goals in our win over Wigan Athletic at Griffin Park. Neal followed that up with another strike four days later as we drew 1-1 at Ipswich Town and was also on target last weekend during our 2-2 draw at home to Reading. Those four goals took his season's tally to nine, two clear of anyone else in the division.
It is the second time is as many months that a Brentford player has been up for the major monthly prize following Ollie Watkins' August nomination.
