Justin Shaibu netted for the second game running as Boreham Wood surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw at home with Dagenham and Redbridge in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round.
The home side took an early lead through Charlton Athletic loanee Josh Umerah and when Justin, who had come on with ten minutes to play, turned and fired home to make it 2-0 late on it looked like Luke Garrard’s side had booked their spot in tonight’s First Round Draw. However, Tomi Adeloye halved the arrears from the penalty spot after he had been fouled in the box and Luke Pennell completed a remarkable turnaround by heading home in the 94th minute. The two sides will do battle again on Tuesday night in the Replay. An injury picked up on international duty with England's Under-20s means that Ellery Balcombe will not be available for The Wood for the foreseeable future.
In Sky Bet League One, Jack Bonham picked up another Man of the Match prize as Bristol Rovers drew 0-0 with Oxford United in a third-tier basement battle. The Bees stopper was by far the busier keeper in the first-half, making important early saves to deny Marcus Browne and James Henry. After the break it was Rovers who enjoyed the better of the game, but they couldn’t find a way through as Darrell Clarke’s side went a fifth league game without a goal. Jack has now kept six clean sheets in his 11 games for The Gas who host AFC Wimbledon in midweek.
In Sky Bet League Two, El Glosico between Theo Archibald’s Forest Green Rovers and Tom Field’s Cheltenham Town ended in a 1-1 draw at The New Lawn. Theo played his first 90 minutes in the league for Rovers while Tom Field wasn’t involved in the matchday 18. Tyrone Barnett scored the opener from a penalty rebound after 25 minutes before Theo was involved in the leveller late on; his corner crashed home by Joseph Mills. Tuesday’s action sees Forest Green host Tranmere Rovers while The Robins head to Oldham Athletic.
In Chiedozie Ogbene’s absence Exeter City were held 0-0 away at Grimsby Town. The point means The Grecians remain second in the table ahead of their trip to Crawley Town tomorrow.
In the Championship, Ryan Woods played the full 90 minutes as Stoke City were beaten 1-0 at home by Birmingham City. The only goal at the Bet 365 Stadium came nine minutes from time as Che Adams poked home at the far post. Defeat leaves The Potters 17th in the table ahead of their trip to Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United tomorrow night.
