Six Bees out on loan in action on Saturday

EFL sees Brentford loanees make impact

1 October 2018

This weekend, six Brentford players were in action on loan away from the club. Ryan Woods captained Stoke City in the Sky Bet Championship, Jack Bonham kept a clean sheet in League Two and Chiedozie Ogbene continued his impact sub role for Exeter City.

In the Vanarama National League, Boreham Wood lost 4-2 to Harrogate Town. Ellery Balcombe missed out, being named as an unused substitute as Ryan Huddart started in goal. Justin Shaibu came on after 75 minutes to try and change things but the damage had been done. The Wood will now wait a week until next Saturday to play eighth-place Hartlepool away from home in the league.

In League Two, three players got game time for their loan clubs. Tom Field played the first half in Cheltenham Town's 2-0 defeat to Lincoln City. The Robins are three points off the bottom two and face Morecambe on Tuesday night, a team just one point above them in the table.

Theo Archibald was brought on at the break in Forest Green Rovers' 1-1 draw with Macclesfield Town on Saturday. Rovers are now seventh in the league and head to Cambridge United on Tuesday night, a team close to the bottom in 20th.

Exeter City continued their strong run in the fourth tier with a 1-1 draw against Port Vale. Chiedozie Ogbene was brought on after 65 minutes to help them cement third place, five points away from top spot. On Tuesday night, they host Stevenage in fourth place, making this one a huge encounter at the top end of the table.

In League One, Jack Bonham kept a clean sheet in Bristol Rovers' 0-0 draw with Bradford City. The south-west side are in 18th place and just a point above the bottom four, making the result a crucial one at this early stage. On Tuesday night they head to Rochdale, one place above them in 17th.

Finally, Ryan Woods captained Stoke City against Rotherham United in a 2-2 draw at New York Stadium. On a day where manager Gary Rowett rang the changes, Woods played a crucial role in the centre of midfield. On Tuesday night they host Bolton Wanderers at The bet365 Stadium.
