Kolbeinn Finnsson has been called up to Iceland's Under-21 side for the first time. They are in action this week against Northern Ireland and Spain.
Finnsson, 19, has been involved in the Icelandic international youth setup at several stages already including Under-17 and Under-19. His first Under-21 call-up will place him in contention to face Northern Ireland U21 on Thursday 11 October and then Spain U21 on Tuesday 16 October - both matches are in Reykjavik.
Iceland U21 cannot qualify for the European Championship competition in the summer of 2019, held in Italy. The Icelandic side can still finish second in the group behind the Spanish, who have already qualified.
Kolbeinn's last match for Brentford B saw him score a great goal from distance in a 3-2 win over Queens Park Rangers Under-23s at Jersey Road. He'll be hoping that goal can make an impact on squad selection this week.
