WATCH: Bees back Rainbow Laces campaign at LGBT+ Community Match

Brentford FC CST take on Middlesex FA team to raise awareness of LGBT+ equality in football

29 November 2018

Kevin O'Connor and four members of the Brentford B squad gave their backing to the Rainbow Laces campaign at a special community match on Monday night.

The Brentford legend joined Joe Hardy, Nikolaj Kirk, Jonny Mitchell, and Jarvis Edobor at Rectory Park as a Brentford FC Community Sports Trust team took on a Middlesex FA team to raise awareness of LGBT+ equality in football.

The match coincided with the EFL's Rainbow Laces campaign, which encourages fans and athletes to be ‘active allies’ and to play their part in ensuring LGBT+ people feel included in sport. Run by the LGBT+ charity Stonewall, the campaign is now in its fifth consecutive year, and has been credited with tackling discrimination both on and off the football pitch.
