B Team goalkeeper Patrik Gunnarsson has been called up to the Iceland Under-19 squad for their upcoming UEFA Euorpean Championship qualifiers in November.
Iceland are in Group 5 of the early qualification stage alongside England, Moldova and Turkey. The teams head to Turkey, hosting the mini-tournament, between 11-20 November. The top two sides after a round of games will go through to the Elite Stage of qualification, where seven teams will make it through to the final stage in Armenia next summer. Armenia have already qualified as hosts.
On 14 November, Iceland play Turkey in the opening game at the Arslan Zeki Demirci Sports Complex. Three days later they face their toughest test against group favourites England at 10am BST. The final round of games is held on Tuesday 20 November, when Iceland go head-to-head with Moldova.
Last month in the same qualification stage, Brentford B's Jaakko Oksanen was eliminated with his Finland Under-19 side. Teams already through to the next stage are; Hungary, Slovenia, Ukraine, Norway, Italy, Denmark, Republic of Ireland, Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland.
Patrik has played 13 games for Kevin O'Connor's side so far this season, including games on tour in Switzerland against GC Zurich II. His last start was at Ibrox against Rangers, where he saved a penalty in a 3-2 defeat.
