Ezri Konsa is the latest Brentford player to receive an international call-up after the 21-year-old defender was included in the England Under-21 squad for two friendlies next week.
The Young Lions cruised through qualifying for next summer’s European Championships in Italy and San Marino and attention now turns to preparing for that tournament. Aidy Boothroyd’s side head to the Stadio Paolo Mazza in Ferrara on Thursday 15 November, kick-off 6.30pm, to take on The Italians before a game against another of next year’s potential opponents, Denmark in Esbjerg, kick-off 6pm, five days later.
Ezri, who has impressed since arriving from Charlton Athletic in the summer, played twice in qualifying, scoring his first international goal during the 7-0 win over Andorra which clinched qualification last month. In total, Ezri has four caps at Under-21 level to add to his five at Under-20 level.
Ezri’s call-up takes the number of First-Team players called up for international duty to four. Chris Mepham, Ezri’s defensive partner, will be away with Wales next week as will Romaine Sawyers (St Kitts and Nevis) and Henrik Dalsgaard (Denmark).
