Two members of the Brentford B Team were in action yesterday night, 19 November, for their international youth teams.
Kolbeinn Finnsson rounded off a tournament in China with his second Under-21 cap for Iceland. He played 82 minutes in their 1-1 draw against Thailand, as the side confirmed a third-place finish in the four-team group.
Finnsson missed out on the first match, a 2-0 defeat to Mexico on Thursday. Then he took to the field for the first time as an U21 starter a few days later against hosts China. That game ended in a 1-1 draw, before Finnsson made his second start on Monday.
Elsewhere, Jan Zamburek played 90 minutes for Czech Republic Under-18s in their 1-0 win over Austria in Znojmo. Simon Gabriel scored the only goal of the game in the 74th minute before Zamburek was brought off as a late sub in the final minute of regulation time.
David Titov missed out on an appearance for Latvia Under-19s through suspension yesterday. The 18-year-old winger was shown a straight red card in the side's 2-1 win over Montenegro at the weekend, meaning he would miss their final game of qualification for Euro 2019.
The match ended in a 1-0 win for Cyprus, the only goal being knocked into his own net by Ilja Korotkovs in the first half. Thanks to Russia winning 2-0 over Montenegro in the other game, defeat meant Latvia finished third in the group stage, behind the Cypriots who snatched second place, and Latvia is therefore eliminated from qualification.
