More details have been confirmed for the 2018/19 pre-season programme with the news that we will head to Sky Bet League One newcomers Wycombe Wanderers for a friendly on Tuesday 17 July, kick-off 7.45pm. Ticket information and further match details will be confirmed in due course.
Yesterday it was announced that we would open our pre-season programme with a trip to Boreham Wood on Friday 6 July, kick-off 7.30pm and now a second game on home soil has been confirmed too. In between times, Dean Smith will be taking the group to Bavaria for a training camp from Saturday 7 July to Saturday 14 July and the plan is to end that camp with a game. More information can be seen here.
This will be our first trip to Buckinghamshire since 2016 when a John Egan goal earned us a share of the spoils from a pre-season encounter. Before that, our most recent competitive games against The Chairboys came during the 2011/12 League One season. A single Kevin O'Connor penalty sent Uwe Rosler's side back down the M40 with the points from our game at Adams Park in September while, the following January, Gary Alexander's hat-trick helped us to a 5-2 win in TW8.
A third-placed finish in Sky Bet League Two last term means that Gareth Ainsworth's side will start next season back in the third tier for the first time since that 2011/12 campaign. A run of just three league defeats in 2018 ensured that Wanderers joined Accrington Stanley and Luton Town in the automatic promotion places, three years after losing out to Daniel Bentley's Southend United in the Play-Off final at Wembley.
The Bees are lining up a series of friendly matches to take place in July and it is hoped to confirm dates and opponents in the coming days. Current plans are for a game at Griffin Park against Premier League opposition on Saturday 28 July with a further away game on Saturday 21 July as well as the trips to Boreham Wood and Wycombe Wanderers. All details of pre-season will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
