A group of Scandinavian supporters were in West London last week to present a Brentford player with an award. The Brentford FC Supporters Club of Norway named goalkeeper Daniel Bentley as their Player of the Season for the 2017/18 campaign. They were in West London last week, ahead of the game against Hull City that brought the season to a close, to present Daniel with his prize. The Norwegian Bees also watched training and met Head Coach Dean Smith during their time in West London.
Daniel follows in the footsteps of Ryan Woods, who took the award last year, as well as Clayton Donaldson and Adam Forshaw in winning the Norwegian supporters’ prize. He played 45 of Brentford’s 46 Sky Bet Championship games this season and kept 15 clean sheets. His memorable moments including a point-blank save against Birmingham City to ensure The Bees kept a clean sheet and a penalty save against Millwall in a 1-0 win early in the campaign.
Daniel was voted in to the top three of the Brentford Supporters’ Player of the Year award, announced on Sunday, and also finished second in the Junior Fans’ vote. He was named London Goalkeeper of the Year at a star-studded award ceremony earlier this year and helped Brentford to a top ten finish in the Sky Bet Championship.
