Jarvis Edobor “pretty pleased” with season

Defender talks B Team, new contract, and kicking-on

16 May 2018

Brentford B central defender Jarvis Edobor feels he has come a long way during his first full season with Kevin O’Connor’s B Team. The 18-year-old joined The Bees in the summer of 2016 but only began training full-time this time last year after studying for his A-levels. This term the commanding defender featured 38 times for the B Team, scoring three goals.

Speaking to iFollow Brentford at the end of the season, Jarvis felt he made some big strides this campaign but believes there is much more to come. “It’s been a good season with good development,” said Jarvis. “I have improved as a player and learned more. My leadership skills have gone up as well so I am pretty pleased about my season. I feel like I have become more of a leader. I hope I can keep developing that and get better as a player. The goals too were good for me; it was nice to get off the mark and then back it up with two more.”

That progress was rewarded last week with a one-year contract extension through to the summer of 2019 which Jarvis admitted he was more than happy to sign.

Along the way this season, the B Team have beaten a host of top clubs from around Europe. Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Anderlecht, Rangers, Benfica and Porto were all swept aside as Kevin O’Connor’s side proved themselves to be a force both at home and abroad. Jarvis firmly believes that having such a varied games programme is one of the big reasons why he has been able to develop as a player over the past 12 months.

“The games programme has been really, really good and a positive experience,” admitted Jarvis. “I am happy about those fixtures and the fact that we are starting to get some wins now. It’s been really good for our development. I have been to more countries than ever before this year which is a great experience both on and off the pitch.”
