Emiliano Marcondes spoke to iFollow after Brentford's final match of the 2017/18 season at Griffin Park. The Bees drew 1-1 with Hull City and the Danish forward got 90 minutes in his 12th game of the season under Dean Smith.

Asked about the match, he said: "Of course it was a game where there wasn't much to play for but I think we showed some good character and we were trying our best to get the three points."

The 23-year-old set up Sergi Canos to score the final goal at Griffin Park of the 17/18 campaign, and had some chances to score himself. Overall, he was disappointed he didn't get on the scoresheet.

"I'm not really happy with my day," he said. "It's getting better and hopefully when I play more then I will get used to playing in the Championship. I'm just looking forward to next season."

We asked him about his time in West London since arriving in January.

"I've enjoyed it a lot," he said. "It's a different playing style to what I am used to so I'm getting better and getting used to all the guys, the coaches and how they think as well as the way the players think. I'm looking forward to playing more, training more and getting on the pitch next season.

"From the first day the fans have been amazing and even today they were shouting and singing my song. It's a great song and I hope they will do it next season as well."

Brentford secured their fourth straight top ten finish by landing ninth spot on the final day of the Sky Bet Championship. Emiliano agreed that the Club deserved praise.

"Yes, but I think we should also be up there in the top six. That's why I think all of us are a bit disappointed because we have the players to be in the top six. Hopefully next season we can be in the top six or go even further."

Asked about his summer plans, Emiliano said: "I'm going to Brazil, so maybe I'll play some street football there to keep me fit. I will also have to run a lot.

"I now have a full pre-seasn ahead where I can show more. It was a difficult time for me to come in during the winter time, where we were winning a lot of games. Now I have pre-season where I can show more of me and then hopefully get some more playing time in the friendlies we will play as well."
