Brentford B goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe has been selected to attend an England U19 training camp in Spain later this month.
The English team has qualified for the upcoming UEFA Under-19 Championship in Finland this summer, and as part of preparations for the tournament will be heading for La Manga in late May.
From Sunday 20 May to Friday 25 May, Ellery will be with Paul Simpson’s England team as they go through some warm weather training in the south of Spain.
England qualified as Elite Round Group 2 winners after victories over Hungary and Latvia, both stewarded by Balcombe between the sticks. With the Brentford keeper benched, they lost their final game of the campaign 2-0 to Macedonia but secured a place in the tournament thanks to Latvia’s 3-2 win over Hungary in Skopje.
Alongside the hosts and England, six other teams will compete in venues across Vaasa and Seinäjoki, Western Finland. Norway, Italy, Ukraine, Portugal, France and Turkey have all qualified for the Finals.
A draw to determine the group stage fixtures will take place in Vassa on Wednesday 30 May 2018.
