Brentford B goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe has been named as part of an England squad preparing for the upcoming 2018 UEFA European Under-19 Championships. Ellery is currently in La Manga, Spain, as one of three goalkeepers in a 24-man party for a training camp ahead of the tournament. England will spend the week there ahead of the draw for the competition, which will be held next Wednesday, 30 May.
The UEFA European Under-19 Championships will be held in Finland from 16 to 19 July. England are one of eight teams looking to claim the trophy and Ellery will be hoping to be part of the squad for the event. He played in two of England’s three matches in the final qualifying round for the competition and have five Under-19 caps in total.
Ellery has also represented England at Under-18 level and was in the Under-20 squad that won the prestigious Toulon Tournament last summer. He has nine international appearances to his credit overall. Three goalkeepers have been named in the 24-strong group that are in Spain now.
