Mads Bech Sørensen: 'a great opportunity for us'

Danish defender reflects on Kelty victory and previews Rangers fixture

12 March 2018

B Team defender Mads Bech Sørensen spoke to us following one of Brentford B's training sessions in Scotland earlier today.

The B Team defender covered his thoughts on Sunday's game against Kelty Hearts, gave us a look ahead to the clash with Rangers later this week and also spoke about his work with the First Team this season.

“I think we played alright,” said Mads, talking about the 4-0 win over Kelty. “It was a great win and we kept a clean sheet so I feel it was a great game for us. We were struggling a little bit in the first ten minutes, but I think we were in control after that period.

“It was nice to keep a clean sheet because the last one was a long time ago so, that was nice. We could have scored more goals at the other end too.”

The squad play Rangers on Wednesday 14 March at The Gers' training ground, something Mads is looking forward to. The last time the sides met at Jersey Road, the score was 5-2 to the Scottish side in a game that saw the inclusion of Kenny Miller.

“It’s going to be a great game,” said Mads. “It’s a great opportunity for us but hopefully we will play better than last time. We haven’t done anything specific ahead of that match yet, but we will work on that tomorrow in training.

“We are just going to play our own game and do what we are good at, then we'll try not to think too much about the opponents.”

The imposing centre-back has made several appearances for Denmark's U19 squad this season, alongside fellow defender Lukas Talbro. He told us that he was glad to be in a place to do that, and also touched on his recent work with Dean Smith's side in training back in West London.

“I’m really happy with it," he said. "It’s been great for me to play a lot of games and get used to the way we do it here. It’s nice to have some Danish people to talk to and if I have any questions or something I can always go to them and ask.

“Obviously it’s great to be involved with the First Team and I’m really enjoying it so far.”
