Loan Round-up: Week 38

Bonham and Chatzitheodoridis in action in EFL

27 March 2018

Two of Brentford's loanees were action this weekend, with Sky Bet League Two not stopping for the international break.

Ilias Chatzitheodoridis played 78 minutes in Cheltenham Town's 5-3 win over Crawley Town at Stadium on Saturday 24 March.

The Robins went 3-0 up in the first half after Harry Pell netted a brace and Mo Eisa scored after half an hour. Eisa then got his second shortly after the restart to make it 4-0 to Cheltenham.

Karlan Ahearne-Grant scored in the 50th minute to provide some hope for Crawley fans but that was quickly followed by a goal from Cheltenham's William Boyle to make it 5-1. The home side rallied for a short while and got goals through Panutche Camara and Lewis Young, but they couldn't change the result and it ended 5-3.

That win puts Chelenham in 15th place in Sky Bet League Two, two places below their weekend opponents. This Friday they play Carlisle United, as two of Brentford's loanees square off in the league for the first time this season.

United's goalkeeper Jack Bonham was in action this weekend too. His side drew 1-1 at home to Cambridge United.

Carlisle took the lead in the second half, carrying on their dominant display from the first 45 minutes. Richard Bennett the man who found the net after a deep cross was knocked into his path by Mark Ellis.

The visitors drew level a few minutes later, George Maris scoring a close-range header that got the better of both Bonham and defender Danny Grainger on the line.

Carlisle head into the match in 10th, six points away from the play-off spots and in good shape to face Cheltenham next weekend.
