David Titov made his international debut on Wednesday as Latvia Under-19s beat BFC Daugavpils 4-1 at the Skonto Hall, Riga.
The game came at the end of a three-day training camp in preparation for the Under-19 European Championship Elite Qualifying Round later this month. David was handed his debut by Alexandra Basova as Latvia ran out easy winners thanks to Emil Birk’s early strike and a second-half double from Kristāls Lūsins, which came either side of Matīss Zēģele’s late goal. Latvia will face FYR Macedonia, England, and Hungary in three-week's time with a place at the summer’s Championships in Finland going to the group winners.
Denmark also stepped up their preparations for those same qualifiers with defeat to Scotland in Lloret De Mar on Tuesday. Brentford B defender Mads Bech Sorensen once again captained his nation as they fell to a single goal defeat; Everton's Fraser Hornby scoring the decisive goal six minutes after the break. Mads played the full 90 minutes, earning his ninth Under-19 cap, with Lukas Talbro coming off the bench to win his fifth cap at that level. Standing between Denmark and their place in Finland this summer are Austria, Turkey, and Bosnia and Herzegovina with the four sides meeting in Denmark, starting on Wednesday 21 March, to decide who goes through.
