Chris Mepham’s excellent form this season has seen him handed a maiden full international call-up in Ryan Giggs’ first Wales squad.
The former Manchester United icon named his squad earlier this lunchtime with Chris included in the 26-man squad for the China Cup in Nanning. Wales will take on hosts China on March 22, and they will play their second and final game four days later against either Uruguay or Czech Republic.
A debut full international call-up completes a remarkable rise for Chris over the last six months, after making his Sky Bet Championship debut as a substitute against Derby County in September. He made his full debut four days later in our 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough and has gone on to make 14 league, and two cup, appearances in total this campaign.
The 20-year-old has also established himself in the Wales Under-21 set-up, starting four of Wales five UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers this term. Chris was handed the captain’s armband by Rob Page for their qualifier against Romania in November as The Red Dragons look to secure their place in Italy next summer.
