The 2018/19 season came in to focus yesterday as the Sky Bet Championship fixture list was announced. Now, with just two weeks to go until the first pre-season friendly, the next stage in the build-up to the new season takes place today. The Brentford B squad will return today, Friday 22 June, for the first day of training ahead of the new campaign.
While the players have had a summer break the ground staff have been hard at work. Renovation work to the pitches both at Griffin Park and the Club’s Osterley Training Ground has been taking place. And with the grass growing and the players set to return, the ground staff have been putting the finishing touches to the playing surface.
This year that has included a brand-new way of marking out the pitches. Rigby Taylor, who supply products for the maintenance of sports pitches, brought a robotic line painter to Jersey Road last week. The little machine painted the lines on the Club’s training pitches to the millimetre while the ground staff got on with the other final preparations. Have a look at the robot in action below and some of what else has been going on over the past few weeks.
