The first steps towards the 2018/19 season take place today as Brentford’s First Team squad return for pre-season training. The majority of the squad assembled at Brentford’s Training Ground, in Osterley, this morning as they start a six-week build up to the start of the Sky Bet Championship season. The Bees will begin their campaign on Saturday 4 August when they face Rotherham United at Griffin Park. A full list of fixtures can be seen here.
The first days will see the players go through a series of medical screenings and tests before training begins in the coming days. The group will be slightly reduced for the opening days as players that finished the 2017/18 season later due to internationals have been given extended rest. Henrik Dalsgaard is still away with Denmark at the World Cup while Ellery Balcombe, John Egan, Alan Judge and Chris Mepham – who were playing international football in late May and early June – will also have an extended break.
The Bees will begin their pre-season friendly programme with a game against Boreham Wood on Friday 6 July before a week-long training camp in Germany. Pre-season will close with a friendly against Watford on Saturday 28 July at Griffin Park. There are also games against Wycombe Wanderers and Shrewsbury Town in the next month.
