Loan Round-Up - Two games for Theo

Update on Theo Archibald's time at Forest Green Rovers

19 July 2018

Forest Green Rovers have been working Theo Archibald hard this week, using him in two pre-season friendlies in 24 hours. The Scottish youth international is on loan at the Gloucestershire club for the season. The Brentford B attacker linked up with the Sky Bet League Two side earlier this month after agreeing the switch, which has a break in January, and played for them against Leeds United on Tuesday, 17 July, and Swindon Supermarine last night, Wednesday 18 July.

Forest Green have played five pre-season games now and Theo has featured in each of them. He scored against Torquay United and then hit two as Forest Green drew 6-6 with Weston-super-Mare last Friday. On Tuesday, Theo came on as a second half substitute as Forest Green lost 2-1 to Leeds United. Leeds went 2-0 up but Rovers pulled a goal back before the interval. Theo played the second half in full but couldn’t help Forest Green pull level.

The Brentford B man was back in action last night as Rovers played Swindon Supermarine. He played for an hour in the 2-2 draw. Supermarine went ahead twice but Forest Green grabbed two equalisers, one very late after Theo had been replaced, to ensure they got a draw. Forest Green are back in action on Saturday when they play Bristol Rovers. They kick-off the League Two season against Grimsby Town on 4 August.

The winger, accustomed to playing on either side of a central striker, made three First Team appearances for The Bees last season. Theo joined The Bees in May 2017 from Celtic. He had come through the youth ranks in Glasgow, getting some game time in the UEFA Youth League on his way to appearances for Scotland's Under-16 and then Under-19 sides.

In just over a year with Brentford, Theo has made 35 B Team appearances and scored 14 goals. He made his First Team debut last August against Ipswich Town, coming on as a substitute for Lasse Vibe. He then made his first start for the Club in the Carabao Cup defeat to Norwich City.
