Loan Round-Up - Two more for Theo in 12-goal friendly

Update on Brentford B attacker on loan at Forest Green Rovers

16 July 2018

Theo Archibald grabbed two more goals as Forest Green Rovers took part in a remarkable 12-goal pre-season friendly. The Scottish youth international is on loan at the Gloucestershire club for the season. The Brentford B attacker linked up with the Sky Bet League Two side earlier this month after agreeing the switch, which has a break in January, and played his third pre-season game for them on Friday night. A match, against Weston-super-Mare, that ended 6-6.

Theo had already played two pre-season games for Rovers and scored in the second, against Torquay United. On Friday, 13 July, he played the full 90 minutes against Weston and scored two of Rovers’ six goals. Theo opened the scoring and helped Forest Green to a 5-2 lead. That became 6-3 just after half time when Theo scored his second but Weston-super-Mare scored three to earn a draw.

That friendly came at the end of a training camp in the South West for Forest Green. They are back in action tomorrow – Tuesday 17 July – when they face Leeds United and also have games against Swindon Supermarine and Bristol Rovers lined up this week. They kick-off the League Two season against Grimsby Town on 4 August. Theo, 20, has been given the number 18 shirt for the season by the League Two side.

The winger, accustomed to playing on either side of a central striker, made three First Team appearances for The Bees last season. Theo joined The Bees in May 2017 from Celtic. He had come through the youth ranks in Glasgow, getting some game time in the UEFA Youth League on his way to appearances for Scotland's Under-16 and then Under-19 sides.

In just over a year with Brentford, Theo has made 35 B Team appearances and scored 14 goals. He made his First Team debut last August against Ipswich Town, coming on as a substitute for Lasse Vibe. He then made his first start for the Club in the Carabao Cup defeat to Norwich City.
