A new UEFA report has revealed that the Sky Bet Championship was Europe's third most-watched league during the 2016-17 season. More than 11,000,000 supporters watched games last campaign according to UEFA's latest Club Licensing Benchmarking Report, which was released earlier this week.
The Championship trailed only the Premier League and Bundesliga in terms of attendees, moving up from fourth the previous season, having finished above La Liga, Ligue 1, and Serie A in terms of combined attendance. Sky Bet League One also featured on the list in ninth, with 4,373,496 supporters watching games in England's third tier.
Nearly a quarter of a million people passed through the gates at Griffin Park last season as Dean Smith's side recorded a third straight top ten finish in the second tier. Only the three promoted sides plus Derby County, and Norwich City filled a higher percentage of their ground capacity on a weekly basis than The Bees over the course of the season.
