Jack Bonham kept his eighth clean sheet of the campaign on Saturday as Carlisle United beat Crewe Alexandra 1-0 at Brunton Park to register a first win in four matches in all competitions. The only goal of the game came 14 minutes from time as Sam Cosgrove netted his first for The Cumbrians. Jack had to be alert to make a crucial save in the dying seconds to preserve a victory which sees Keith Curle’s side close the gap on the Play-Off places to seven points ahead of tomorrow night’s Emirates FA Cup Third Round replay at Sheffield Wednesday.
Elsewhere, Konstantin Kerschbaumer sat out DSC Arminia Bielefeld’s 2-1 win over a team of contract-less Spanish professional in Benidorm on Friday. Having played in the 2-0 win over KRC Genk the day before, Konstantin watched on as a young DSC team secured the win thanks to two second-half goals. Bielefeld play their final warm-up game ahead of the resumption of the 2.Bundesliga season on Friday when they travel to Rot-Weiss Essen.
