Henrik Dalsgaard has received the recognition of his peers for his performances in 2017. The Brentford defender, currently out injured, was part of the Denmark squad that reached the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia. Henrik missed the Play-Off win over Republic of Ireland that took Denmark to Russia – although his Brentford team mate Andreas Bjelland did play – but that did not stop him being named by his countrymen as one of the stand-out performers last year.
The Danish footballers’ association held a poll for a team of 2017 and Henrik was named as one of the defenders in that team. He joins Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen and Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen in the line-up. The full team can be seen here.
Henrik joined The Bees from Belgian side Sportvereniging Zulte Waregem in the summer. The 28-year-old signed a three-year contract and made 17 appearances in all competitions for Brentford before sustaining an injury against Birmingham City in early November. Henrik has eight Denmark caps so far.
