Loan Round-Up: Kerschbaumer scores stunner in Bielefeld's midweek draw

Midfielder on target in 1-1 draw against 1.FC Union Berlin

7 February 2018

Konstantin Kerschbaumer was the toast of Bielefeld after his wonder-strike earned a share of the points for DSC from Monday's home game against 1.FC Union Berlin.

The visitors took the lead against the run of play through Steven Skrzybski after 15 minutes but had to weather intense DSC pressure as they held their lead through to half-time. However, that advantage lasted just eight minutes after the restart as Konstantin struck. The on-loan Bees midfielder chested down a bouncing ball and volleyed home from 25 yards for his sixth of the season, and fourth in his last seven league games.

The draw leaves DSC eighth in the 2.Bundesliga, six points off the promotion places ahead of Saturday's trip to fourth-placed MSV Duisburg.

There will be a full round of fixtures for our loanees this weekend in the EFL. In Sky Bet League One, Justin Shaibu's Walsall head to Blackpool while in Sky Bet League Two Carlisle United and Jack Bonham host Colchester United with Ilias Chatzitheodoridis and his Cheltenham Town teammates welcoming Port Vale to the LCI Rail Stadium.
